Students who will turn 5 on or before Sept. 1 are eligible for kindergarten. All 23 CCSD elementary schools offer full-day kindergarten.

ACTIVE Academies Principal Mark Smith is this year’s winner of the Cristal Stancil Leadership Award, which recognizes outstanding leadership among participants in its Leadership Cherokee program.

Cherokee County School District’s Special Education executive director has earned a state award for excellence. Charlette Green, who has led CCSD’s Special Education department since 2009, recently was awarded the 2023 Phil Pickens Administrator Award by Georgia Parent Mentor Partnership.
