Hi! I am so happy to be joining the Oak Grove family! This is my 26th year in public education, and I love what I do each day. I am married to my husband, Jason, and we have two sons who attend CCSD schools. Jason and I moved to Georgia from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 2000. We are HUGE Steelers fans and love watching football as a family.
Before moving to Georgia, I taught for one year in a suburb of Pittsburgh. After moving to GA, I taught 3rd grade and 4th grade in Cobb County for seven years. In that time, my husband and I moved from Cobb County to Cherokee County due to the exceptional reputation of the Cherokee County School District. I was hired at Liberty Elementary in 2007 and taught Kindergarten and first grade there for 8 years. In 2015, I was appointed as the Assistant Principal at Little River Elementary where I served for three years. I was then promoted to be the Principal at Johnston Elementary where I have proudly served for the last six years.
I received my Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Educational Psychology. I earned my Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from Kennesaw State University in 2005 and graduated Summa Cum Laude. I earned my Gifted Endorsement in 2011 from North GA RESA. I also earned my Specialist Degree from Kennesaw State University in 2017 in Educational Leadership, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Four years ago, I was hired as an instructor for North GA RESA to teach the Gifted Endorsement to our CCSD educators. I do this in the evenings and thoroughly enjoy instructing CCSD’s finest teachers! I am also a Microsoft Innovative Educator and love using the newest tech tools in support of our staff and students.
Whether you and your family are returning to Oak Grove, or you are new like me, I know this is going to be an excellent year for everyone. One of our main goals at Oak Grove is to build positive relationships with each other, our students, and their families. We will also continue to provide rigorous instructional excellence to our students. I am so happy to be leading the Oak Grove Eagles family!!!
